Lookout Housing and Health Society, a charitable organization, provides housing and support services to adults with low or no income who lack housing options. The organization aims to help individuals achieve independence by securing appropriate housing as the first step. The Tenant Support Worker (TSW) position involves assisting residents with support, education, and skills training to promote independence and stability.
Job Duties:
Participate in tenant intakes, provide support services, and assessments
Identify challenges for tenants, develop service plans, crisis intervention, and administer finances and medication
Ensure basic needs are met by working closely with individuals
Complete required paperwork, maintain statistical data, and assist with volunteers
Comply with health and safety program requirements
Qualifications & Competence:
Diploma in Community Social Service
Class 5 BC Drivers' License (if required)
OFA 1 First Aid Certificate
Food Safe Certificate (if required)
Minimum of two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and training
Minimum of two years sobriety if having alcohol and/or drug problems
Criminal Record Clearance - Vulnerable Sector
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Mental Health, Income Assistance, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Practice, Addictions Support organizations, etc.
Ability to work independently and with others, operate related equipment, and communicate effectively
Organizational, observational, and problem-solving skills
Conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and advocacy skills
Home management, instruction, and rapport-building skills
